What is GPP?

GPP stands for general physical preparedness and it’s exactly what it sounds like; becoming proficient in a multitude of physical domains so you can handle whatever life, or sport, throws your way. It’s credited with being “discovered” by Russian training systems, but I’m sure the idea and practice has been around for as long as exercise has.

Around the time my grandchildren were born I noticed that little things I use to take for granted were harder than they should be. Getting onto the ground, carrying a car seat, and trying to keep up with the little ones were making me more tired than they should be. Since I’ve been working with coach Jon I’ve felt an all around improvement in the “little things” that used to give me trouble. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get in better shape.Austin.F

Working with Jon at GritGPC really showed me a different way to approach training. Instead of going in to the gym and blasting everything to failure, I’m now training with solid goals and a detailed plan. After just a few months I am comfortably lifting weights that I had been struggling with before. Excited to see where I can get to in the next year!

Got me ready for soccer season and my legs and core feel super strong and I’m a lot less tired than everyone else at the end of practice!

I didn’t like working out before working with coach Jon and I am proud to say that…… I still don’t like working out.. But Jon does make it more manageable and makes sure that I stay consistent. He’s worked with me to just focus on the most important things while keeping the length of workouts short, which is really the only way I’ve been able to stay consistent. I appreciate all he’s done for me and maybe, just maybe, I’m almost starting to like squats… but mostly when they’re over with!

I came to Jon thinking I had plateaued and wanted to try something different, what I didn't realize was that my form needed a lot of attention, now I feel like the workouts I'm doing are more effective and I feel better with the movement.

What’s the best way to get stronger?

As with all things the best way to improve at anything is by being consistent. There are many proven and effective exercise programs that will improve strength and body composition that can be found online or on social media.

Do you have to count calories when you start to exercise?

This is a question I often get, and the cut and dry answer is… it depends.I know, I know. That’s about the least straight forward answer I could give but it’s true. It all depends on what your goals are and how quickly you want to achieve them.

Stretching

Know that you “should” be stretching but don’t know where to start, I got you. ‍
